EMO 2019 ultimate laser show lights way to higher productivity

Our ultimate laser show has proven to be a big draw at the EMO 2019 exhibition this week in Hannover, with visitors discovering how our laser-based machine tool measurement, CMM sensor and calibration innovations help raise productivity.

With EMO 2019’s theme ‘smart technologies driving tomorrow’s production’, it has been exciting to hear first-hand how well our laser technologies fit with a wide variety of manufacturers’ plans to create smarter, data-driven factories, which build on their existing assets.

We have showed several of our new laser products for the first time at EMO 2019, including the LS-C-5.8 laser scanning solution for non-contact measurement on machine tools and the X-AX LASERBAR, a ground-breaking tool for calibrating and compensating small and medium machine tools from Etalon, a Hexagon company.

In addition to laser products for machine tools, visitors have seen demonstrations of the speed and precision of the HP-L-5.8 laser scanning sensor operating on a Hexagon GLOBAL S CMM, and the RS6 Laser Scanner for the Absolute Arm 7-Axis. Both capture dense point cloud data at high speeds and high accuracy.

And for those visitors that need extremely precise measurement results in 2D and 3D, for example when measuring freeform shapes or checking machine kinematics, we’ve been demonstrating the RWP20.50-G-HPP, which is Hexagon’s most accurate touch probe for machine tools. It deploys patent-pending laser triangulation inside the measurement unit to achieve extremely high repeatability, low pre-travel variation and low 3D form error.

A key part of our conversation with customers focuses on how smarter, data-rich solutions integrate cost-effectively with their existing systems. So, we installed a virtual reality display on our stand to show how different elements of smart technology combine to create more productive manufacturing environments. We’re looking forward to continuing the many discussions we’ve had at EMO 2019 so that we can assist manufacturers in realising concrete operational gains with the latest advances in real-time and inline solutions.
