Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence extends its congratulations to Hendrick Motorsports, driver Chase Elliott and Team 24 on their impressive awardthis past weekend. In his first full year as a NASCAR Sprint Cup competitor, and taking over NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon’s 24 car full time, rookie Chase Elliott has been named the 2016 Sunoco Rookie of the Year following the season finale at the Ford Ecoboost 400 race.
Not to be outdone by the historic achievement of teammate Jimmie Johnson, who completed his successful run to a seventh Sprint Cup Series championship, Elliott sta
rted his first full time year earning the pole award in his first Daytona 500. At just 20 years old, Elliott is in good company: he joins previous Rookies of the Year and Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne. Chase beat out fellow rookies Ryan Blaney and Chris Buescher to win this prestigious award.
