Hannover Messe opens in ‘time of change’

The 2023 Hannover Messe opened with an inspiring and thrilling ceremony on Sunday 16 April, with speeches from the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo and the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz. Across the speeches, there was a common theme of the need to tackle urgent challenges to benefit people and planet, and that this can be achieved through leveraging digital technology.

Stephan Weil, Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, was the first speaker of the evening and stressed that this is a time of major transition, but also a time of opportunity. He remarked that trade shows are one of the best ways to harness the potential to further digital technology’s progress in fighting climate change.

A world-leading event

Hannover Messe is one of the largest and most important industrial trade fairs in the world. A key event on the calendar since 1947, up to 250,000 visitors travel each year to discover the latest advancements in industrial technology from the 5,000 exhibitors. It is a truly global event, a quality strengthened by the creation of a new annual partner country for the show; this year with Indonesia.

A feature in recent years has been the event’s increasing focus on digitalisation, its impact on manufacturing and the way people work together. This year, in the Digital Ecosystems hall, Hexagon will showcase how we empower makers to blur the line between digital and reality with a powerful portfolio of connected hardware and software.

Empowering makers

Our stand this year features major new launches and examples of a growing list of solutions that touch every step of the product lifecycle, delivering efficiency improvements and unrivalled levels of both quality control and management. One of the exciting new products shown on the stand is Nexus, a software platform that removes silos in manufacturing workflows and enhances collaboration across disciplines.
